Surly Bikes

2012 Surly Cross Check

The Cross-Check is a do-it-all road ride that handles commuting, light touring, everyday riding, weekend charity rides and centuries with ease and smooth, steely grace. This year Surly added mid-blade eyelets to the fork for mounting a front rack. This isn’t a touring bike per se, but it will handle lighter touring loads, and a front rack can make that easier.

The Cross-Check was the third frame ever offered by Surly, and little has changed since then, why should it?  So, whats this bike for? It’s a cyclocross bike by category, but its much more versatile. It comes stock with gears, but you could build it into a singlespeed or fixed-gear in needed. You can ride it on the road or off. It’s got lots of
space for fat tires and for fenders and it does as good a job getting you
across the country as it does getting you across town

2012 Surly Long Haul Trucker

Frame Only is $429.99

The Long Haul Trucker is built, as you might expect, as a touring bike. But it does a lot of other stuff good too, like commuting, day trips, double centuries, and of course beer runs. It is set it up with a triple crank, a reasonably wide-range rear gear cluster, and large-ish, comfy tires. Add racks and you’re ready to haul because the frame is designed to be stable and supple fully loaded with gear. Other bikes, 'converted' touring bikes you might call them, simply don’t handle big loads as well. The Long Haul Trucker, like all Surly's frames, are steel, because steel rides way better than aluminum or carbon fiber, and for less money. It’s got rack and fender mounts front and rear, three bottle mounts, even a spare spoke holder
